Populasi sepeda motor di tanah air sudah mencapai angka luar biasa, yakni lebih dari 30 juta unit. Wajar jika kemudian banyak bisnis ikutan yang ikut mendulang keuntungan. Bila diamati bengkel serta penjualan onderdil serta aksesoris menjamur namun setiap hari tidak pernah sepi.
Meskipun pertumbuhan pasar tunggangan beroda dua sempat menciut selepas kenaikan harga BBM juga tidak lantas membuat pasar onderdil maupun bisnis di seputarnya menjadi loyo. Bisnis suku cadang, aksesoris motor, aksesoris pengamanan seperti alarm dan helm, kostum motorcross, spare part racing, bengkel modifikasi, serta perawatan tetap ramai. Maklum, sebagai kendaraan alternatif yang harganya relatif terjangkau, dari waktu ke waktu jumlahnya terus membengkak.
Meski tiap periode tertentu muncul bisnis ikutan dari sepeda motor ini, namun ternyata terus ada celah kosong. Dari sekian banyak produsen aksesoris tanah air pada umumnya lebih tertarik menggarap onderdil maupun variasi motor balap. Maka seperti diungkap oleh Sugeng, pemilik toko penjual aksesoris motor Motorkita di Depok, Jawa Barat, pengusaha lokal bisnis aksesoris dan spare part racing biasanya tidak lain adalah para mantan pembalap itu sendiri. Langkanya pengusaha lokal yang menggarap produk kostum motor biasa itulah yang membuat Sugeng tertarik mencicipi kue yang dilupakan ini. -
